Am chuffed to bits (as a private customer). My well worn digibox came to the end of its life on Sunday. New digibox wouldn't talk to my telly! Put out a call on FB IOW Community and Mike Downes came highly recommended, so I contacted him. Today (Monday) he phoned as he said he would (see below), turned up when he said he would, fixed the problem and my life is back to normal (I know it's sad, but what can I say?!) Turns out from our initial contact this morning that HE was the one who had come to sort out the cabling and aerial repair for our house (Carters Castle) when we moved here in 2004. Then, we were both going through a very difficult time and the ease with which Mike sorted out all the vagaries of adding the wherewithal for the modern world in a mid Victorian house went a long way to ease our path.... I thought about him over the years (although his work was so spot on we never needed to call him back), but unfortunately lost his contact details and assumed, like many other very decent tradesmen, he'd since left the Island. .... not so! And I'm so pleased about that, and this time I'll keep his business card safe!
